Google is Halting Upcoming Releases of Chrome and Chrome OS

With more than 175 countries under the grip of Coronavirus, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared COVID-19 a pandemic. The situation is so deteriorating that the borders of the neighbouring countries are sealed and many of them have implemented complete travel bans. Owing to the pertaining fear of the disease most companies all around the globe have asked their employees to do work from home until the situation is getting better.

So, in a time when a lot of people have confined themselves in their homes and are doing their official work remotely, Google is halting upcoming releases of Chrome and Chrome OS. Recently, the company took the decision that for now, it is not going to add any new functionality in its existing browsers so that they can continue to run smoothly.

On Wednesday evening, the Chrome Development Team tweeted, “Our goal is to ensure they continue to be stable, secure, and reliable for anyone who depends on them. We’ll prioritise updates related to security, which will be included in Chrome 80. Stay tuned.”

Google is halting upcoming releases of Chrome and Chrome OS and in fact, the decision makes complete sense. The company like Google does not want the users to experience bugs popping up while working. Coronavirus is more than enough to hamper everyone’s life, with new bugs it will only make things miserable for Chromebook users and for those using Chrome during work from home.

Apart from this, Google has also given work from home to most of its employees in different parts of the world. Google is halting upcoming releases of Chrome and Chrome OS is a decision taken wisely. In case, if the company encounters imbalance in Chrome stability, things will also become difficult for them to hand when most of their workforce is so decentralised.
