Senior Full-Stack Engineer: Java, JSP, JavaScript

Skills Required

Backend & Core Java

• Proficiency in Java 11 or higher and Object-Oriented Programming
• Advanced knowledge of Spring MVC and Spring Boot
• Advanced knowledge of Spring Security, API security best practices, authentication and authorization
• Advanced knowledge of ORMs: Hibernate and JPA
• Advanced knowledge of data structures and algorithms
• Experience developing RESTful web APIs and API Gateways
• Experience with WildFly (or JBoss EAP) application server — deployment, configuration, and management
• Familiarity with background job and task scheduling frameworks: Spring Batch, Quartz Scheduler or similar

Database

• Advanced knowledge of SQL and MySQL 8
• Experience with database performance tuning and query optimization

Caching & Distributed Systems

• Familiarity with Infinispan distributed caching and data grid concepts
• Understanding of fundamental design principles behind scalable, high-performing applications and how they fit into a larger distributed system
• Understanding of multi-tenant architecture — tenant isolation, data segregation, shared infrastructure patterns
• Understanding of asynchronous processing patterns and message queuing

Web & Legacy Frontend

• Solid experience with traditional Java web development: JSP, JSTL, and server-side rendering patterns
• Strong proficiency in vanilla JavaScript (ES6+) and jQuery for DOM traversal, event handling, and asynchronous data fetching (AJAX)
• Experience maintaining, optimizing, and safely refactoring existing JSP/jQuery frontend interfaces while progressively decoupling them to consume modern RESTful API services

Infrastructure & DevOps

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and associated tools: Jenkins and similar
• Familiarity with AWS services: EC2, S3, SES, SNS, SQS and similar
• Familiarity with Docker and containerization basics
• Familiarity with monitoring tools: CloudWatch and similar
• Proficiency with Splunk for log analysis and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with security scans, penetration tests, and vulnerability remediation
• Familiarity with SOC 2 or similar compliance frameworks and what they mean operationally

Collaboration & Tooling

• Familiarity with Atlassian suite: Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket
• Experience with Git branching strategies and code review practices
• Experience working in remote and async-first collaboration environments

Experience Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering
• 3+ years of experience in a SaaS organization
• Proven experience working on large, complex legacy codebases — not just greenfield projects
• Experience with enterprise-grade applications serving high-traffic, multi-tenant environments
• Experience with SOC 2 or similar compliance frameworks
• Experience working remotely with distributed teams across timezones

Tasks & Responsibilities

Platform Ownership

• Maintain, optimize, and safely refactor legacy JSP/jQuery UI surfaces including dev admin, ops admin, and community portals
• Own deployment and release management — build pipelines, environment configuration, and production deployments
• Identify performance bottlenecks in a high-traffic multi-tenant SaaS environment and develop solutions
• Identify and implement key application metrics and monitoring solutions
• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, reliable, and scalable software within a complex legacy enterprise platform

Framework & Version Upgrades

• Lead platform-wide framework and version upgrades including WildFly 14 → 25, Java 11 → 17, Spring 5 latest version, and associated library upgrades
• Assess upgrade impact across the platform, identify breaking changes, and coordinate safe migration path
• Ensure backward compatibility and stability of the platform throughout upgrade process

Architecture & Design

• Translate business requirements into solutions within a complex legacy enterprise platform
• Create design documents from software requirements and maintain existing architecture documentation
• Apply scalability methodologies in a consistent and robust manner
• Understand and uphold multi-tenant architecture principles across the platform

Security & Compliance

• Lead quarterly SOC 2 compliance activities including static, dynamic, and 3rd party library scans
• Coordinate and support annual penetration testing and remediate findings within defined SLAs
• Ensure security best practices are applied across the platform

Incident Response

• Support incident response and troubleshooting for enterprise clients within defined SLAs
• Identify root causes and implement permanent fixes for production issues
• Use Splunk for log analysis, issue diagnosis, and post-incident review

Team & Collaboration

• Mentor and guide mid-level engineers as the India team scales
• Collaborate closely with the US-based oversight engineer and technical architect in a remote async-first environment
• Participate in code reviews and establish code quality standards for the India team
